Annual Rwandan Festival and Public Exhibits:

The exhibit involves Rwandans living in the Louisville area or nearby. They bring their best Rwandan products to the exhibit site and set up the exhibit to display crafts, books, foods, beverages, etc., and perform the Rwandan music and dance. A senior member is present at all times to answer the public's questions. Information about the corporation is also available at the exhibit. The purpose of the exhibit is to inform our youth and the public as well about the rich cultural heritage of the Rwandan Society.

Child Sponsorship:

BMF Foundation (BMFC, Inc.) is currently running a Child Sponsorship Program in Rwanda, focusing on children pursuing High School Education in Rwanda and whose parents or guardians are unable to pay for the tuition cost because of insufficient income.

Our Child Sponsorship Program focuses on individual child development with the ultimate hope that these children may grow up to bring about positive influences and long lasting changes in their own communities. This program enables qualified children to pursue High School Education in Rwanda, which costs around $300 per year. We aim at connecting one sponsor to one child. The sponsored child will be able to know about his/her sponsor, write to his/her sponsor, and enjoy the blessing that come with the sponsorship. In the selection process, we strive to find the most competent students on the basis of their current academic performances. Prospective applicants must have accomplished at least one year of high school studies in a public or private institution recognized under the current Rwandan Law. The application deadline for fall semester consideration is May 1st.

Educational Workshops:

In partnership with Jewish Family and Vocational Services, Brothers Mutual Foundation for Charities, Inc. conducts several workshops aiming at training new Rwandan immigrants in basic financial skills. Specifically, the workshops focus on the following topics: Planning a Family Budget, Maintaining a Good Credit, Building Consumer Skills, and How to Choose a Good Financial Institution in the USA.

Currently, Brothers Mutual Foundation for Charities, Inc. is part of a Health Ministry Network initiated by Louisville Metro Health Department Office of Faith and Health and the American Heart Association. Our Health Ministry encompasses regular workshops on several topics such as heart health and stroke prevention, high blood pressure, healthy eating, diabetes, child obesity, senior heath issues, stress management, Cardio-Pulmonary-Resuscitation training, physical activity and fitness, etc.

Annual Youth Dialogue:

The Annual Rwandan American Youth Dialogue offers our youth a great opportunity to discuss issues they face on a daily basis while struggling to preserve our best cultural values with the ultimate goal to remain self-sufficient and adapted to the American Society at large. In so doing, the Annual Rwandan American Youth Dialogue is an important tool aiming at encouraging and promoting a better understanding and tolerance among current and future generations.

Field Trips and Annual Picnic:

These activities are some of our community projects that aim at fostering cohesion, camaraderie, and tolerance among our community members.

Child Enrichment:

The Child Enrichment Program comprises two different programs: Child Day Care and After School Programs. These two programs aim at providing quality and affordable child care so that parents can easily continue to go to school and/or work full time. Furthermore, the After School Program provides a great opportunity for our children to keep up with our best cultural values, which include but are not limited to, learning the Rwandan traditional music/dance, and reading/writing our maternal language: Kinyarwanda.
